New Nebraska Furniture Mart Slated for Washington

Everett, WA, Oct 15--Executives from International Speedway Corp. a Florida company that develops racetracks for NASCAR and other motor-sports organizations, is returning to Washington this week to continue researching potential sites for a racetrack, said Snohomish County Councilman Jeff Sax, according to the Seattle Times. But since company representatives' last visit to the state in mid-September, county and economic-development officials have altered their sales pitch. They are recommending additional, larger plots of land beyond a 529-acre site that Darrington proposed to the company early last month. Separately, the county created a 400-acre tourist zone across from the speedway to capture race fans' dollars. Three major projects have located there, including Cabela's, which sells outdoor, hunting and sports gear, and Nebraska Furniture Mart, owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Group. A separate developer has begun work on a high-end mall
