Karastan Revamps Installation Program

Dalton, GA, August 14, 2007--Karastan said it has completely revamped its Karastan Certified Installer Program to include the latest tools and techniques.

Since 1996, Karastan, in partnership with Jim Walker—President of the American Floor Covering Institute and CEO of the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association —has been combating the carpet industries’ biggest challenge—installation.

Through a program of extensive skills training, Karastan has certified more than 2,000 installers.

Retailers and installers participating in Karastan’s Certified Installer Program undergo two-days of seminars, hands-on training and skills testing. Before certification is awarded, installers must pass a written exam, construct seams in various carpet styles (including woven), professionally align patterns, demonstrate correct power-stretching and trimming procedures, and upholster a stair. All installers are also graded on appearance and “people skills”.
