Indiana Retailer Dies After Playing Basketball

Madison, IN, December 8, 2005--Madison resident Jason Hall, 32, owner of Hall’s Carpet Plus Color Tile, collapsed last night at the Brown Gym and died upon arrival at King’s Daughters’ Hospital, according to the Madison Courier. The newspaper reported that an autopsy was under way this morning in Louisville, Ky. Jefferson County Coroner Alice Carlson Jackson expected to know the cause of death later today. Hall was at the gym as part of the “Old Timer’s Basketball” league, which has played at the Brown Gym for many years, Madison Parks Director Dave Munier said. Munier said he received a call after last night’s Madison City Council meeting. “I was told he (Hall) was playing basketball and when he finished a game, sat down to have a drink of water. When he got back up to play another game, he hit the floor,” Munier said. “The EMTs were called, and from what I understand, there was nothing anyone at the scene could have done,” Munier said. Munier said he was told that Hall was breathing when the emergency medical technicians arrived.
