Greenbuild Part of Commerce Department’s Internati

Washington, DC, May 11--The Greenbuild International Conference and Exposition, an annual conference organized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), has been accepted into the U.S. Department of Commerce’s (DOC) International Buyer Program. The International Buyer Program (IBP) brings together international buyers and U.S. firms by promoting leading U.S. trade shows in industries with high export potential. The DOC chooses fewer than 40 trade shows each year for participation in this elite program. The IBP benefits U.S. firms exhibiting at these select events and provides practical, hands-on assistance through export counseling and market analysis to U.S. companies interested in exporting. "This is a new and exciting opportunity for our exhibitors to connect with a global audience," said Rick Fedrizzi, USGBC President, CEO & Founding Chair. "Greenbuild’s participation in the International Buyer Program solidifies green building as an important international agenda item, and the USGBC as a leading international proponent of green building." The Greenbuild conference, in particular the exhibit hall, will be promoted via U.S. embassies, consulates and Commercial Service Posts worldwide, providing Greenbuild exhibitors with an unparalleled international marketing venue. The IBP will also survey Greenbuild exhibitors and international delegates regarding their purchasing and selling interests in order to match exhibitors with prospective buyers. The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation’s leading coalition of corporations, builders, universities, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations working together to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. Since its founding in 1993, the Council has grown to more than 5,400 member companies and organizations, a 50-person professional staff, a broad portfolio of LEED products and services, the industry’s popular Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, and a network of 67 local chapters, affiliates, and organizing groups. The USGBC’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo brings the industry together under one roof. Three days of extensive educational programming, workshops, a vast exhibition floor and ample networking events give you unrivaled opportunities to learn about the latest innovations, exchange ideas and develop new business relationships. Greenbuild 2005 will be held on November 7-9, 2005 in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Convention Center. Last year’s conference drew over 8100 attendees and more than 380 exhibitors.
