Fire Damages an Anderson Hardwood Plant

Clinton, SC, October 11, 2006--A fire last night burned nearly half of the Anderson Hardwood Flooring plant in Clinton. All 50 workers in the building were evacuated safely. According to Anderson president Don Finkell, a plant supervisor discovered the fire in a storage room around 7 p.m., but was unable to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher. According to Finkell, the fire reached nearly half of the plant. Some nearby homes were evacuated, Clinton Fire Marshal David Boyd said. The company recently announced a $7.5 million expansion that is expected would add approximately 100 jobs to the plant. The company said it plans to move the operations directly affected to another plant.
