Carpet One Names Annual Award Winners

Dallas, TX , March 12, 2007--Carpet One Floor & Home announced the recipients of their annual awards at the 3rd Annual Awards Gala during their Winter Convention in Dallas. The company presented awards in eleven different categories, based on enthusiasm, participation, commitment, and sales increase during the past year. "Every winter, we present awards to our top retailers, business partners and staff members. Each award recipient is leading the way with their outstanding achievements and dedication to Carpet One Floor & Home," said Carpet One Floor & Home President, Evan Hackel. "With the continuation of our 5-Year Plan, 2006 was a very exciting year for everyone at Carpet One Floor & Home. I'm proud to recognize our award recipients for their many accomplishments." Carpet One Floor & Home presented awards in the following categories: Spirit of Carpet One Floor & Home Award: Michael Baecht, Gold Star Carpet One Floor & Home (Denison, TX) This award recognizes the member that most embodies the Carpet One Floor & Home spirit. This year's winner has been involved in a many of the most important initiatives in 2006, like Revelation, the PriceRight calculator and CarpetOne.com. Baecht has served on a variety of member councils, including the Advisory Council. Over the past year, he has been extremely supportive and offered detailed and thoughtful input on these programs. Wally Hileman Award: Warren Hamstead, Homeworks Carpet One Floor & Home (Ocean City, MD) This award was created in honor of Carpet One Floor & Home's Vice President of Membership from 1991 to 1998, Wally Hileman. This was a pivotal time of growth for the company, during which membership increased by 350 percent and members from Canada, Australia, and New Zealand joined the organization. The Wally Hileman Award recognizes a Carpet One Floor & Home member who has recently joined the company and has demonstrated outstanding commitment to Carpet One Floor & Home and a desire to improve their business. Titanium Sales Achievement Award - Percentage: Casey Carpet One Floor & Home (Amarillo, TX) This award recognizes the member who has shown the greatest percentage increase in purchases from the previous year. Titanium Sales Achievement Award - Dollars: Floor King Carpet One Floor & Home (Austin, TX) This award recognizes the member who has shown the greatest actual increase in purchases from the previous year. Commitment to Education Award: Paul Johnson, Carpet One Tulsa (Tulsa, OK) This award goes to the member who has demonstrated the greatest commitment to educating his or her staff during the past year. This retailer attends University events throughout the year with a goal of graduating 100% of his or her staff from Carpet One Floor & Home University. 5-Diamond Award of Excellence: Ken Morris, Carpet One Huntsville (Huntsville, AL) This award recognizes the Installation Excellence Five Diamond member who exhibits the most outstanding level of customer relations on a consistent basis. Community Service Award: John Shepard, Carpet One Floor & Home - Gulf Coast (Panama City, FL) This award recognizes one retailer that has made an outstanding commitment to their community through Carpet One Floor & Home's community relations programs during the previous year. Shepard has been a big supporter of the Toys For Tots Foundation, serving as the area coordinator for the third year in a row. This year, his community gathered 4,600 toys for local children and raised more than $4,000 to fund next year's toy drive. Shepard was also the recipient of the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award this year and continues his involvement with the Carpet One Welcomes Your Support campaign. Special Achievement Award: Charlie Vogel, Arcade Floors Carpet One Floor & Home (Baltimore, MD) This award recognizes a member who has made a significant achievement or excelled in their implementation of a Carpet One Floor & Home program during the previous year. Vogel has long been a dedicated and committed member of the Carpet One Floor & Home community. He has been a big supporter of Carpet One University, serving on the Training Council and participating in the Installation Excellence program for years. He was also a pioneer of the RNG concept. He made a significant accomplishment in 2006 by tirelessly helping his fellow members to implement the PriceRight calculator. Partner of the Year: Mohawk This award recognizes the organization that has made the most significant impact on the overall Carpet One Floor & Home membership during the past year. Carpet One Floor & Home recognized Mohawk for their amazing dedication to the company over the years and for partnering with them to introduce the new Lees carpet collection in October. Most Valuable Player: Eileen Shapiro, Vice President of Operations This award recognizes the individual that has been most helpful to the overall Carpet One Floor & Home membership during the past year. This is the third year in a row that Shapiro has received this award, which is determined by Carpet One Floor & Home member votes. Super Staff Member: Philip de Rham, Senior Manager, Member Relations This award recognizes the Carpet One Floor & Home staff member who has shown the most dedication to his or her role in the company and Carpet One Floor & Home membership during the past year. The Super Staff Member recipient is determined by fellow Carpet One Floor & Home staff members.
