Carpet One Announces Annual Award Winners

Manchester, NH, August 10--Carpet One announced the top-selling dealers and industry leaders who were recently recognized at the 2004 Carpet One International Summer Convention held in Dallas, Texas. "It is truly a pleasure to present these awards each year," said Alan Greenberg, cochairman and co-CEO of Carpet One. "These dealers represent the entrepreneurial spirit and dedication that we value at Carpet One. They are all leaders within this competitive industry - we appreciate their hard work and commend them for their achievements." This year, Carpet One presented dealer awards in fourteen different categories. Carpet One also honored John Umbaugh, of Carpet One University with an Award of Excellence for his distinguished 12-year career as an educator and his dedication to improving the performance of Carpet One businesses. The Dealer of the Year awards are presented in three categories each year based on store volume to large, mid-size and small volume dealers. They reflect the greatest percentage increase in volume of sales versus the prior year. Barry Katzenberg of Barry Neal Carpet One in Altamonte Springs, FL took home the award for Dealer of the Year in the large volume dealer category. Willard Plotkin of Columbia Rug Carpet One in Peoria, IL was named the Mid-Size Dealer of the Year. Dale Sherburne of The Color Center Carpet One in Excelsior, MN won the distinction for small dealer. The Wally Hileman Award was presented to AI Stinson of Stinson Carpet On in Apopka, FL. This award recognizes a Carpet One member who is committed to growth and has consistently enhanced his business each year. The following additional awards were presented to Carpet One members: Carpet One University Award - Scott Walker of Walker's Carpet One in Bellingham, WA for displaying the greatest commitment to education of his staff. Carpet One Five Diamond Award of Excellence - Harold Brewington of Carpet One of Fayetteville in Fayetteville, NC for his top score on the Installation Excellence customer survey. Carpet One Spirit Award - Roland Thompson of Kehne's Carpet One in Frederick, MD, whose participation in and support of the Installation Excellence Program truly represents its spirit of teamwork and dedication. Top Good Housekeeping Sales - Patrick Coyle of Coyle Carpet One in Madison, WI for purchasing the largest volume of Good Housekeeping carpet this year. Top Liz Claiborne Flooring Sales - Sol Nagorner of San Diego Carpet One in San Diego, CA for purchasing the largest volume of Liz Claiborne Flooring this year. Top LEES For Living Sales - Sol Nagorner of San Diego Carpet One in San Diego CA for purchasing the largest volume of LEES For Living carpet this year. Top Harding Home Collection Sales - Yanick LaVoie of Kanata Flooring Carpet One in Kanata, Ontario for purchasing the largest volume of Harding Home Collection carpet this year. Top Bigelow U.S. Sales - Randy Pack of Floors, Inc. in Southlake, TX for purchasing the largest volume of Bigelow carpet in the U.S. this year. Top Bigelow Canada Sales - Glen Stephenson of Western Carpet One in Calgary, Saskatoon for purchasing the largest volume of Bigelow carpet in Canada this year.
