ASID Foundation Raises $85,000

Washington, DC, April 9, 2007--The ASID Foundation reports that its second annual fundraiser, “Jubilation 07,” raised more than $85,000. The “Fire & Ice” themed benefit was a highlight of INTERIORS 07: The ASID Conference on Design, held Friday, March 16, at the Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center. The event, attended by hundreds of ASID members and friends of the ASID Foundation, was sponsored by ASID Industry Partners TOTO® and JESSITT-GOLD iNTERIORS and co-chaired by BJ Peterson, FASID, and Odette Lueck, FASID.    The monies raised during Jubilation will help advance the Foundation’s mission: to support endeavors that capture and disseminate knowledge, encourage innovation, and benefit the health, safety and welfare of the public through interior design research, scholarships and education. Two of the Foundation’s most prestigious awards were presented at the event. The Joel Polsky Prize is awarded to recognize outstanding academic contributions to the discipline of interior design through literature or visual communication. The 2006 Prize was award to DAK Kopec, Ph.D., CHES, IDEC. The Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award, awarded to Susan Quick, ASID, for 2006, is given annually to recognize an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student’s interior design research or thesis project.   Donations were secured through a profitable silent auction and an entertaining live auction, led by former ASID President, Marty Rayle, FASID. Rayle encouraged guests to bid on stays at luxurious vacation homes and world-class resorts, wonderful furniture and accessories, autographed books by esteemed interior designers and architects, beautiful works of art and much more—all donated by ASID Industry Partners, chapters and Foundation supporters. In addition to the auctions, participants enjoyed a special evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and mixing and mingling in the Galleria’s spectacular four-story atrium.   “The ASID Foundation Board of Trustees is extremely grateful for the overwhelming support of our Industry Partners, chapters and friends of ASID,” said H. Don Bowden, FASID, AIA, Foundation chair. “We would like to thank each donor and bidder for making Jubilation 07 a success and for supporting our mission of promoting design education and research.”
