AHF to Close Somerset, Kentucky Hardwood Operations

Mountville, PA, August 20, 2025-In a strategic move to streamline operations and strengthen its long-term position in the flooring market, AHF Products, a U.S. manufacturer of hard surface flooring products, announced it will wind down production at its Somerset, Kentucky facility by December 12, 2025.

This decision follows a multi-year internal review and a comprehensive market analysis, which confirmed that consolidating production is the most effective way to align manufacturing capacity with current and projected demand. Operations will be transitioned to other AHF facilities.

The Somerset plant was built in 1990 by Hartco as an engineered hardwood facility focused on rotary construction.

Armstrong acquired the plant in 1999 when it purchased Hartco as part of the Triangle Pacific acquisition.

AHF was formed in 2019 when it acquired Armstrong's hardwood assets. AHF has twice invested in the facility to add its densified process and to add an ingrain line, which cost $2.5 million in 2021. An estimated 100 people work at the factory.

AHF Products reports that it is well situated to continue its growth trajectory through continued innovation and industry-leading customer service. Today, the company encompasses ten manufacturing facilities in the U.S. including two solid wood, two sawmills one engineered wood plant, three resilient plants, and two porcelain plants. Additionally, four domestic distribution facilities serve customers through a multi-channel strategy that includes dealers, home centers and distributors. AHF also owns and operates an engineered wood flooring plant in Cambodia.

Production of densified wood products will continue at the facility through February 2026, allowing for an orderly transition and uninterrupted supply for customers. The company emphasized that the change would have no impact on product availability, service continuity, or the high standards of quality customers expect.

As part of its long-term strategy, AHF continues to invest in its engineered and solid hardwood flooring operations, focusing on improving manufacturing efficiency, new product innovations, and expanding its offering to meet the market demand in all price points and segments. These investments are aimed at strengthening its industry leadership while ensuring its manufacturing network remains agile and responsive.

AHF Products manufactures 100% of its solid hardwood flooring in the USA, along with a large range of engineered hardwood flooring, resilient and tile flooring.
