Design Ovations: Kathryn Mease - Dec 2015

By Kathryn Mease

Living and working in New England, it would be impossible for me not to appreciate buildings and interiors that speak tangibly of their age, like tattered tobacco barns, weathered saltbox houses and the rich molding of Colonial interiors. However, working in the design industry naturally inspires an attraction to modern elements as well, so I’m similarly drawn to sleek spaces, restrained forms and bold color accents. Thankfully, these two schools aren’t mutually exclusive. Often, I find that spaces benefit from having references to both; it’s unexpected, making them more dynamic. If you ask me, flooring is one of the best places to bring them together.
