NAHB Praises Legislation to Limit EPA, Army Corps

Washington, DC, Sept. 10, 2014 -- The National Association of Home Builders has commended legislation that would limit the authority of the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over "waters of the U.S."

The legislation, passed by the House, would prevent what NAHB calls "federal overreach" by the agencies.

The legislation, H.R. 5078, probihits the agencies from adopting a proposed rule that NAHB says would dramatically increase their authority over all kinds of bodies of water, including ditches and mudflats.

NAHB contends that the rule would hurt the housing recovery by increasing the number of construction sites that need permits, which would delay projects and add costs.
