Wholesale Inventories Rise in July

Washington, DC, Sept. 12, 2012 -- Inventories at U.S. wholesalers rose in July by the most in five months as sales fell, according to the Commerce Department.

The 0.7% increase came after a 0.2% drop in June.

Wholesalers had enough goods on hand to last 1.21 months, the most since November 2009, the report showed.

Wholesalers’ stockpiles of durable goods increased 0.7%, boosted by machinery, computers, lumber and automobiles.
