Weekly Jobless Claims at Lowest Level since November 1973

Washington, DC, July 23, 2015—The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits for the week ended July 18 fell to 255,000, the lowest level in more than 41.5 years, according to the Labor Department.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits declined by 26,000 to the lowest level since November 1973.

Claims for the prior week were unrevised.
