Washington, DC, Sept. 12, 2012 -- Small-business owners were more confident in an economic recovery, according to the latest Small Business Optimism Index report from the National Federation of Independent Business.
The index increased by 1.7 points to 92.9 in August. It was the first increase since May.
According to the NFIB’s survey, 10 percent of business owners plan to hire within the next six months, a five-point increase from July.
However, the net change in employment per company was negative, with August at -0.05 percent.
Also, 22 percent said now political uncertainty makes it a bad time to expand.
