Shaw Calls for Reductions in Shift to Filament Carpet

Valley Head, AL, June 8, 2015 -- Shaw Industries is cutting 160 jobs at a carpet plant in DeKalb County as the company continues to adjust to shifting consumer preferences.

Shaw said it is changing its production capacity as filament carpet continues to gain market share over staple products.

The job cuts will leave about 195 employees at the facility.

Shaw has announced $342 million in U.S. investments over the last 18 months to bolster its hardwood, resilient, carpet tile, extrusion, distribution and recycling operations.
