Producer Prices Up Most in 18 Months

Washington, DC, May 14, 2014 -- Producer prices recorded their largest increase in 18 months in April, according to the Labor Department.

The government said its seasonally adjusted producer price index increased 0.6%, the biggest gain since September 2012.

Prices rose 0.5% in March. Economists were expecting a 0.2% gain in April.

Over the last year, producer prices rose 2.1%.
