Patent Board Rules for Tandus in Dispute with Interface

New York, NY, Feb. 16, 2015 -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has ruled in favor of Tandus Flooring in a dispute with Interface regarding a patent on an installation system, according to Law 360.

The board handed a victory to Tandus when it found all contested claims for installing floor coverings invalid, the report said.

The panel found that Tandus Flooring had shown that each of the 14 claims in Interface’s patent was not patentable as obvious or anticipated by earlier patents, Law 360 said.

In December, the board canceled or found invalid a related Interface patent involved in the same dispute.

Interface plans to appeal the ruling.
