OW Expands U.S. Manufacturing, Warehousing

Dalton, GA, Jan. 5, 2015 -- Oriental Weavers said it has made a significant capital investment in its U.S. manufacturing and warehousing facilities.

The late 2014 expansion increased capacity by 12% at the company’s Dalton manufacturing facility and was due largely to the recent high demand for domestically-made products, the company said.

OW said it installed a new, high-speed five-meter loom, which the company said was the first of its kind in the U.S. and is the fastest and most technologically advanced loom available. OW said it's 35% faster than the industry standard and should enable the firm to increase production, reduce waste, and eliminate excessive inventory all while maintaining the existing level of required energy.

Also, OW said it is expanding its distribution center in Dalton by nearly 200,000 square feet to accommodate the added production.

OW senior vice president Jonathan Witt 35% of the firm's production is made in the U.S., and the expansion should boost domestic production up to 25%.
