Mohawk's Lorberbaum Sees a Good Year Ahead

New York, NY, Feb. 27, 2015 -- Mohawk CEO Jeffrey Lorberbaum struck an optimistic tone during an interview with CNBC's Becky Quick on Wednesday.

"All the things are in place for the industry to do better. We have people working more. We have low interest rates. We have housing prices going up. We have more activity going on in business, so we're really optimistic about the future this year," he said.

He said the homebuilding segment is "one of the fastest growing parts of our business." He noted that about a million homes were built last year and he's expecting a 15-20% increase this year.

He said remodeling has had the "slowest growth of the three categories we have, with commercial and new home businesses being better."

Lorberbaum also noted that housing is usually a leading indicator coming out of a recession but this time it's been on the tail end.
