Mohawk to Close Chatsworth, Georgia BCF Yarn Plant

Calhoun, GA, June 10, 2015—Mohawk Industries is closing its Chatsworth, Georgia BCF yarn plant in August and moving the facility’s 156 workers to other facilities in northwest Georgia.

The company reports that it recently made investments to support increased demand for products made with SmartStrand triexta and Continuum polyester fibers, and the displaced workers will move to factories where these fibers are being produced.

Many of the employees will likely move to the Murray, Whitfield and Gordon county facilities, and officials say that some workers may choose opportunities within Mohawk other than at yarn plants.
