Lowe's to Purchase Canada's Rona Home Improvement Chain

Mooresville, NC, February 3, 2016—Lowe’s has signed a deal to purchase Canadian home improvement chain Rona for $2.28 billion.

The company’s previous bid to buy the Quebec-based business, in September 2012, hit opposition from the Quebec government and many of Rona’s independent dealers.

Rona has 700 stores across Canada, while Lowe’s currently has 40 stores in the country.

Lowe’s has said that it will keep many of Rona’s employees, retain its brand name, and increase distribution to independent dealers.
