LL's High-Formaldehyde Laminate Can Cause Health Problems, Says Fed

Washington, DC, February 11, 2016—Federal regulators believe that the laminate flooring with high levels of formaldehyde sold by Lumber Liquidators may trigger breathing problems and risk of cancer from exposure to the flooring was increased, though only by a small amount.

According to a report published by an organization for the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, the flooring gave off enough formaldehyde gas to irritate the eyes, nose and throat in many people and may cause breathing problem in people with preexisting conditions, like asthma.

The testing was completed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission that provided its results to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which analyzed the risk to human health.
