JohnsoniteArcade Rubber Sheet Achieves C2C Bronze Certification

Solon, OH, September 3, 2015—Tarkett has announced its JohnsoniteArcade Rubber Sheet flooring has achieved the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Bronze Certification under Version 3.1.

This certification is the first of its kind earned by a rubber manufacturer.

All Johnsonite rubber tile and rubber sheet products have been similarly certified and contribute to the following credits in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Version 4—MR credit 2: Rubber Tile: generic EPD – 50% contribution value,  Arcade: specific EPD – 100% contribution value; MR credit 4: Option 1 tile and sheet, 100% contribution value.

In order to achieve C2C Bronze Certification, the Johnsonite rubber tile and rubber sheet products fulfilled several requirements, including those that follow. 

  • Material Health: All chemicals used in the product were assessed and a phase-out strategy developed for materials causing potential issues.
  • Material Reutilization: Material reutilization score ≥ 35.
  • Renewable Energy and Water Stewardship: A facility-wide water audit was completed.
  • Social Fairness: Tarkett has supported the United Nations Global Compact since 2010. The company also has strict corporate governance rules, trains employees in its code of ethics and incorporates Global Compact principles across purchasing contracts.
