Initial Unemployment Claims Edge Lower

Washington, DC, Aug. 11, 2016 -- Initial jobless claims ticked lower last week to  a seasonally adjusted 266,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Initial claims have been below 300,000 for 75 weeks in a row, the longest streak since 1970.

The number largely kept with economists' expectations.

Continuing claims rose by 14,000 to 2.16 million.
