High Performance Homes Selected as Innovation Award Winner by DOE

Gettysburg, PA, Aug. 14, 2015—High Performance Homes (HPH), a builder of high performance homes in the Mid-Atlantic, has been selected as a 2015 Housing Innovation Award Winner by the U.S. Department of Energy, which recognizes extraordinary leadership on the path to zero energy ready homes that are better for people, the environment and the economy.

The builder was selected in the production home category for its model home at the golf-course community, The Links at Gettysburg. HPH will be honored for this award and is also in the running to win the Grand Award at the 2015 Housing Innovation Awards Ceremony to be held on October 6 at the Energy and Environmental Building Alliance Excellence in Building Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado.

All HPH homes feature an impressive package of high-performance building technologies that contribute to at least 40% to 50% more energy efficiency than the typical new home. This includes Dow Powerhouse Solar Shingles, tight building envelopes with structurally insulated panels, geothermal heating and cooling systems, and energy-efficient appliances. A comprehensive indoor air quality system compliant with EPA’s Indoor airPLUS label also provides important health protection. A smart home technology package is also included in all of the homes, enabling energy monitoring and complete heating, ventilating, and air conditioning control, as well as remote control of lighting, thermostats, and security from any smart device.
