Factory Orders Down for Second Consecutive Month

Washington, DC, November 3, 2015— Orders to U.S. factories fell 1% in September, according to the Commerce Department. This marks the second consecutive month of decline; in August, orders fell 2.1%.

The September result was led by a 36% fall in the category of commercial aircraft. There was widespread weakness in a number of other areas as well, including primary metals, machinery and computers.
