Durable Goods Orders Rose 4.9% in January
Washington, DC, February 25, 2016—New orders for manufactured durable goods in January increased $11.1 billion or 4.9% to $237.5 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau has announced.
This increase, up following two consecutive monthly decreases, followed a 4.6% December decrease. Excluding transportation, new orders increased 1.8%. Excluding defense, new orders increased 4.5%.
Transportation equipment, also up following two consecutive monthly decreases, led the increase, $8.2 billion or 11.5% to $79.7 billion.
