China Reports Pests in Logs from U.S.

Beijing, CH, August 26, 2015—China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has reported that numerous pests have been found in logs imported from the U.S., according to the Hardwood, Plywood & Veneer Association.

All U.S. exporters must now provide an APHIS phytosanitary certificate and certification of fumigation for wood and wood products.

Pests have been introduced to the U.S. by way of Chinese imports as well. The Asian longhorned beetle was introduced from China by way of untreated wood packing materials, crates and pallets.
