Chairman of ABC Carpet & Home, Jerome Weinrib, Has Died

New York, NY, February 18, 2016—Jerome Weinrib, chairman of New York City’s ABC Carpet & Home, has died at the age of 86.

ABC Carpet & Home was started by Weinrib’s grandfather in 1897 selling flooring products such as carpet and linoleum from a pushcart. When Weinrib’s father took over, he established the business in a brick and mortar location.

Weinrib, however, expanded the business into what it is today: a multi-location operation that sells both flooring and high-end home goods. The business’ six-story flagship store at 888 Broadway has established itself as a destination shopping experience.

ABC Carpet & Home ranks 20th on the Focus 100 Retail list with sales estimated at $120 million in 2014
