Wholesaler Sales Declined 1.1% in August, Up 20.6% YOY

Washington, DC October 8, 2021-- August 2021 sales of merchant wholesalers were $595.5 billion, down 1.1% from the revised July level, but were up 20.6% from the revised August 2020 level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The June 2021 to July 2021 percent change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 2.0% to up 2.1%.

Total inventories of merchant wholesalers but not for price changes, were $731.1 billion at the end of August, up 1.2% from the revised July level. Total inventories were up 12.3% from the revised August 2020 level. The July 2021 to August 2021 percent change was unrevised from the advance estimate of up 1.2%.
