Wholesaler Sales Declined 0.1% in October

Washington, DC, December 9, 2024–October 2024 sales of merchant wholesalers were $675.1 billion, down 0.1% from the revised September level but were up 0.9% from the revised October 2023 level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. 

The August 2024 to September 2024 percent change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.3% to up 0.5%.

Total inventories of merchant wholesalers were $905.0 billion at the end of October, up 0.2% from the revised September level. Total inventories were up 0.9% from the revised October 2023 level. The September 2024 to October 2024 percent change was unrevised from the advance estimate of up 0.2%. 

The October inventories/sales ratio for merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, based on seasonally adjusted data, was 1.34. The October 2023 ratio was 1.34.
