London, England, February 10—-Victoria PLC will discontinue production of the famous Axminster carpet, with the loss of 85 jobs at its Kidderminster plant, according to a report in the Financial Times.
The textiles group said its Axminster business remained unprofitable, despite attempts to improve productivity and said the traditionally strong market for this product was not likely to return.
The closure will give rise to an exceptional charge of 1.2 mln stg.
Trading at the textiles company has continued to "remain tough" in the UK but the company expects full year results to be in line.
