Trump Pauses Tariffs for 90 Days, Except on China

New York, NY, April 10, 2025-"The U.S. goods trade deficit was $1.2 trillion in 2024, leading President Trump to announce a broad 10% tariff on nearly every nation and higher ‘reciprocal tariffs’ on countries he cited as ‘bad actors’ as a strategy to narrow the gap,” reports the Wall Street Journal.

“The reciprocal tariffs went into effect just after midnight Wednesday. Hours later, however, Trump announced a 90-day pause on the higher rates for bad actors-except China. He raised duties on Chinese imports to 125%.

“He maintained a 10% universal rate on all trading partners except for Canada and Mexico, which have been spared from the baseline rate.”
