Truist Reports on Ceramic and Vinyl Flooring Imports in May 2024
Charlotte, NC, July 10, 2024-Truist released the following analysis of May import data from the U.S. International Trade Commission.
“Ceramic Imports Show Modest Overall Increase; Weak Results From Mexico. Overall ceramic unit imports increased 3.7% year-over-year, following weak results earlier in the year. Mexico showed another unit decline, down 20.0% year-over-year, following a decline of 4.3% last month and a weak 2023. India saw a modest increase, up 2.9% in units, following much stronger results in the prior two months ahead of a recent anti-dumping petition on ceramic tile from India.
“Vinyl Flooring Sees Modest Increase In May. Imports saw a modest increase in May, up 3.5% year-over-year, following a sharp decline last month. Overall, year-to-date units are up 1.7%. Units from China, the largest source of material, saw a unit decrease of 19.4% and South Korea saw a notable gain of 36.4% year-over-year, for three months of strong gains.”
