Trade Gap Narrows

Washington, DC, April 12, 2006--The trade deficit narrowed by 4.1% in February to $65.7 billion, according to the Commerce Department. The trade deficit was below the consensus forecast of Wall Street economists of a deficit of $67.3 billion. Both imports and exports declined in February, but imports had the bigger drop. The trade deficit with China was $13.8 billion in February, the smallest gap since March 2005.
