Total U.S. Ceramic Imports Declined 4.3% in First Half of 2024
New York, NY, August 9, 2024-In the first six months of 2024, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 88.4 million square meters, a decline of 4.3% from the same period in 2023 when imports were 92.4 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting. The decrease was due to the decline in imports from Mexico (-21.7%), Brazil (-24.6%), Turkey (-28.2%) and Spain (-.04%).
Imports from India were up by 13.1% and from Italy were up 6.6%. Imports from Vietnam were up 51%.
Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 20.6 million square meters, followed by Spain (15.9 million square meters), Italy (14.1 million square meters), Mexico (13.2 million square meters), Brazil (6.6 million square meters), Turkey (5.8 million square meters) and Vietnam (4.0 million square meters).Total imports were 88.4 million square meters.
Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy in first place with $288 million, followed by Spain ($240 million), Mexico ($118 million), India ($107 million), Turkey ($48 million), Brazil ($46 million) and Vietnam ($26 million). The total value of imports was $963 million.
