Tariff on Imports from Brazil, Including Tile, Increased by 25%

Glen Ellyn, IL, July 20, 2026—”The Administration has determined to impose 25% additional U.S. tariffs on imports from Brazil under Section 301 of the Trade Act,” reports the Ceramic Tile Distributors Association. “As is typical of these measures, it has exempted certain products from the added tariffs (the exemption list is in the back of the attached Federal Register notice). Despite CTDA’s best efforts, the Trade Representative did not exempt ceramic tile from the new tariffs on Brazil.

“The new tariffs become effective for imported items entered on or after 12;01 am, July 22nd.

 “The 25 percent tariffs are in addition to the MFN tariffs, which for ceramic tile are in the 8.5 to 10 percent range, depending on their applicable tariff classification under HTSUS 6907. This would render U.S. tariffs on Brazilian ceramic tile in the 33.5 to 35 percent range. The additional tariffs on Brazil are not stacked on top of the Section 232 tariffs applicable to aluminum, steel, copper and specified derivative articles containing these metals.”
