Stump Shares Observations From Furniture Industry Shows

Charlotte, NC, February 1, 2019-Furniture industry analyst Stump has released a summary of observations from its January shows.

First and foremost, the company reports that conversations with more than 100 furniture industry CEOs reveal that the business leaders are feelings positive about opportunities in 2019, “Executives feel reassured by the stock market’s stabilization, the Fed’s more conservative approach to raising rates, continued strength in the banking sector, the hopeful resolution on the Chinese tariff disputes and an overall strong economy. After a two-quarter pause marked by some unease, all signs seem to point to a strong 2019.”

Topics the industry is grappling with right now include: finding the right strategy in ecommerce, which is the fastest growing channel in the furniture industry; finding balance in trade show participation without breaking the bank; the Chinese tariffs; Made in America and the benefits that brings with regard to lead times, quality and dependability; and big winners and losers, the companies that fail and those poised to create opportunity from those failures.
