Stonepeak Cuts Ribbon on New Gauged Porcelain Line in Crossville

Crossville, TN, September 13, 2018-Stonepeak Ceramics cut the ribbon on its new large format porcelain panel production line at its Crossville, Tennessee production facility yesterday.

This represents the first U.S. production for the 5’x10’ slabs, also known as gauged porcelain.

The two Sacmi Continua lines, which feed into one kiln, are capable of producing 1,000 slabs per day.

Stonepeak’s $70 million investment expands its facility footprint to one million square feet and amounts to a total investment of $250 million since the company was established in the U.S. in 2005.

Owned by Italy’s Iris Ceramica (with annual revenue of $420 million USD), the company goes to market in the U.S. under the Fiandre and Stonepeak brands. Iris is one of the four major producers of porcelain tile in Italy; the others are Atlas Concorde, Panaria and Florim-all of which have U.S. production.

Porcelain panels have a variety of uses besides flooring, including as cladding, wallcovering and countertops. The 2cm countertop product is 25% harder than granite and, via digital printing, can be made mimic almost any natural materials.

The expansion will significantly grow Stonepeak’s workforce, adding 160 positions over the course of the next five years. Currently, the plant has 280 employees.
