Service Sector Continues Expansion in October

Washington, DC, Nov. 3, 2010 — The U.S. service sector expanded in October at the fastest pace in three months.

The Institute for Supply Management’s index of non- manufacturing businesses rose to 54.3, higher than forecast, from 53.2 in September. Readings greater than 50 signal growth.

The median forecast of economists projected the ISM index would rise to 53.5.
