Roger Marcus of American Biltrite & Congoleum Has Died
Princeton, NJ, November 7, 2025-Roger Marcus, 80, formerly chairman of the board and chief executive officer of American Biltrite and president and chief executive officer of Congoleum, died November 4.
Marcus began his career in 1967 as a sales representative for American Biltrite and become CEO in 1983. Under his leadership, American Biltrite, and later Congoleum, following their merger in 1992, developed products such as DuraStone, DuraCeramic, Ultima and ArmorGuard, helping the company grow to more than $250 million in business.
Marcus joined the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) board of directors in January 1998, serving for more than 27 years. He also served multiple terms as president of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute.
Marcus chaired the Floor Covering Industry Foundation’s grant committee for many years and was instrumental in planning the first three FCIF galas.
Most recently, the Floor Covering Industry Foundation honored Roger’s lifetime impact on the flooring industry and his steadfast dedication to the Foundation’s mission at a gala held at Gotham Hall in October 2024.
