Producer Prices Rose 0.3% in October

Washington, DC, November 13, 2020-The Producer Price Index for final demand advanced 0.3% in October, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. 

Final demand prices rose 0.4% in September and 0.3% in August. On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index increased 0.5% for the 12 months ended in October, the largest advance since moving up 1.1% for the 12 months ended in February.

In October, nearly 60% of the rise in the final demand index can be traced to a 0.5% increase in prices for final demand goods. The index for final demand services moved up 0.2%.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced 0.2% in October, the sixth consecutive increase. For the 12 months ended in October, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.8%, the largest advance since moving up 1.0% for the 12 months ended in March.
