Personal Income Rose Slightly in January, Spending Up 2.1%

Washington, DC, February 25, 2022-Personal income increased $9.0 billion (less than 0.1%) in January, according to estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Disposable personal income (DPI) increased $19.8 billion (0.1%), and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $337.2 billion (2.1%).

Real DPI decreased 0.5% in January, and Real PCE increased 1.5%; goods increased 4.3%, and services increased 0.1%. The PCE price index increased 0.6%. Excluding food and energy, the PCE price index increased 0.5%.
