Personal Income Down in January, Back Up in February

Washington D.C., March 29, 2019--Personal income decreased $22.9 billion (-0.1 percent) in January according to estimates released today by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

In January, disposable personal income decreased $34.9 billion (-0.2 percent), and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $8.6 billion (0.1 percent).

Real DPI decreased 0.2 percent in January, and real PCE increased 0.1 percent. The PCE price index decreased 0.1 percent. Excluding food and energy, the PCE price index increased 0.1 percent.

In February, personal income increased $42.0 billion (0.2 percent). Disposable personal income (DPI) increased $31.3 billion (0.2 percent); Real DPI is unavailable for February.
