Personal Income Down 1.0% in September, Spending Rose 0.6%

Washington, DC, October 29, 2021-Personal income decreased $216.2 billion (1.0%) in September, according to estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Disposable personal income (DPI) decreased $236.9 billion (1.3%), and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $93.4 billion (0.6%).

Real DPI decreased 1.6% in September, and Real PCE increased 0.3%; goods increased 0.1% and services increased 0.4%. The PCE price index increased 0.3%. Excluding food and energy, the PCE price index increased 0.2%.
