Old Shaw Fiber Plant in South Carolina Burns

Anderson, SC, June 11, 2010–An accident sparked a fire at a shuttered Shaw Industries plant on Wednesday morning.

Shaw Industries still owns the plant, where the company produced fibers for its carpets.

Anderson County leaders announced in May that New York-based company First Quality Enterprises would be opening up a production plant for tissue and paper towels at the property in 2011. The plant is expected to employ up to 1,000 people by 2020.
