New Home Sales Rose 14% in September
Washington, DC, October 26, 2021-Sales of new single‐family houses in September 2021 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 800,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, 14.0% above the revised August rate of 702,000 but 17.6% below the September 2020 estimate of 971,000.
The median sales price of new houses sold in September 2021 was $408,800. The average sales price was $451,700.
The seasonally‐adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of September was 379,000. This represents a supply of 5.7 months at the current sales rate.
