NALFA Outlines Five-Year Plan at Spring Meeting
Springfield, MA, March 24, 2025-The North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA) recently hosted its spring meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina, bringing together key industry leaders from companies including Mohawk Industries, Cali Floors, Swiss Krono, Mannington, Shaw Industries, Classen, Kronospan, DMX Membranes Limited, Floor & Décor, Framerica, Pak-Lite (PLI), MP Global Products, SELIT North America Inc., Arauco, Versatrim LLC, TORLYS Inc., Zamma, and NC State University.
During the board of directors’ strategy session, NALFA outlined a five-year plan focused on expanding industry engagement, strengthening certification programs, and broadening the association’s influence. Discussions highlighted the need for enhanced marketing efforts to educate consumers and retailers on laminate’s advantages, increased collaboration with retailers to drive adoption of NALFA-certified products, and a more active role in industry advocacy, sustainability, and performance standards. The board also examined opportunities to refine laminate performance benchmarks, ensuring NALFA-certified products continue setting the highest standards for quality and reliability.
Attendees engaged in discussions on industry advancements, standard refinements, and long-term growth strategies, reaffirming NALFA’s commitment to strengthening laminate flooring’s position in the market.
A key highlight of the meeting was the election of new leadership. Tom Wright, vice president of product management & innovation at Mohawk Industries, was elected as NALFA’s new president, bringing years of experience and industry leadership to the role. Alex Brodkin, vice president, product & sourcing at Cali Floors, will serve as vice president & treasurer, while Willis Devore, quality assurance and development manager at Swiss Krono, will serve as secretary. The association also recognized Barbara June for her dedicated service as outgoing president.
NALFA’s technical, marketing, underlayment, and molding committees met during the event, focusing on key initiatives to advance industry testing methods, market outreach, and product standardization. Each committee continues to work on strategies that will further laminate flooring’s reputation for durability, sustainability, and high performance.
