Mullican Hires Air Force Veteran as Quality Control Lead

Johnson City, TN, February 15, 2024-Mullican Flooring, a U.S. manufacturer of hardwood flooring, announces that Steve Black has been named quality control manager for the company.

Black brings more than 25 years of dedicated experience in quality control to his new role, with 17 of those years occurring within the wood flooring sector. He is responsible for leading Mullican’s quality control team, overseeing all aspects of product inspection, assisting in the product development process and laying the groundwork for continuous improvement efforts.

Before joining Mullican Flooring, Black served as the quality assurance manager for QEP in Johnson City for more than 17 years. 

He received a bachelor of science degree in aviation technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida and earned a master of science degree in engineering technology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Black served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 21 years. His service included maintenance crew chief, aircraft/jet engine test facility manager at McChord Air Force Base in Washington and Kunsan Air Base in South Korea, and aircraft/jet engine maintenance manager at Edwards Air Force Base Flight Test Center in California. 

Black also served as jet engine module repair facility manager at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, which included leading a successful wartime deployment of the Maintenance Operations Center in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
