Moody's Reports Which Sectors of Economy Are Thriving, Which Aren't
New York, NY, August 18, 2025-One-third of U.S. economy’s are in recession, one-third are treading water and one-third are expanding, reports Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics.
In recession are the federal government, transportation and distribution, agriculture, mining, manufacturing and construction.
Treading water are leisure and hospitality, professional services, retail trade, financial services, information and utilities.
Growing are healthcare services, technology, state and local government, education and real estate.
Much of the flooring business is characterized under "construction."
